Vigor Oath
Dauer: 3:38
[Verse 1]
I walk the line of sprouting things
Mud on my shoes, seed in my sleeve
Every breath I take is borrowed
Every road goes through a field
I learned my name from leaf and root
From small brown birds and patient rain
If one life hurts, the whole world feels it
I can’t look away and stay the same
[Pre-Chorus]
So I choose the work
I choose the weight
If life is calling
I won’t wait
[Chorus]
Vigor, vigor
I will defend life
Vigor, vigor
I will stand with life
Not just take, not just leave
I will protect what’s breathing
Vigor, vigor
Life is the measure (life is the measure)
[Verse 2]
Not only fur and feathered wings
Not only hands that look like mine
The orchard rows, the river mouths
The soil that keeps the chorus alive
When fields go thin and water breaks
When harm comes near to what we share
I won’t be quiet, won’t go numb
I’ll put my body in the care
[Pre-Chorus]
So I choose the work
I choose the weight
If life is calling
I won’t wait
[Chorus]
Vigor, vigor
I will defend life
Vigor, vigor
I will stand with life
Not just take, not just leave
I will protect what’s breathing
Vigor, vigor
Life is the measure (life is the measure)
[Bridge]
No more neutral hands
No more empty pride
If the living world is wounded
I will step inside
For the humus, for the herd
For the child, the vine, the shore
I was made to answer back
To open wide the door
[Chorus]
Vigor, vigor
I will defend life
Vigor, vigor
I will stand with life
Not just take, not just leave
I will protect what’s breathing
Vigor, vigor
Life is the measure (life is the measure)
